We all wish to have the bathroom of our dreams! A lot of planning can go into just alone in the design. The definition of contemporary has transitioned vastly throughout the course of the years and has expanded its’ idea of what we used to consider design to be. Contemporary design is not always about using items that are simple, bland and modern, but it is the collective items when putting together – can showcase a chic look to match your personality. The most common misconception in contemporary design is being limited with colors, patterns, and the type of material used such as incorporating wood and metallic in one interior space.

If you have no idea where to begin, here are some design tips that can help you choose the right design elements no matter how big or small your bathroom is.

Incorporate Patterns

A good place to start designing your bathroom is your tile floor. This will help you include the right amount of accessories without overcompensating. If you have a tile pattern that is heavy in design, you might want to consider lighter colors and minimal accessories to make space seem bigger. You can get really creative with tile design, geometric shapes are the most popular trend for bathroom decor.

Metallic and Wood

We would have never considered these two to be a pair, as the mid-century decor is highly trending in 2019. More and more interior designers are introducing farmhouse elements into contemporary design. The key to making wood and metallic work is subtlety. We recommend not going overboard with metallics. Choosing a gold rimmed and brass shower heads are the most popular design element throughout most homes and apartments to date. Metallics definitely can work with bathtub faucets if you don’t have a shower. When selecting on incorporating wood, some choose to have a designated interior wood roof as shown in the picture. If you don’t have the means to have one, you can also incorporate wood furniture, a creative wood towel hanger, and even a bathroom mirror made out of wood.

Plants Made for Your Bathroom

If you love nature especially plants, you can also incorporate greens into your bathroom design. Finding the right plant species is very crucial due to certain plant’s life expectancy. There are plants who especially love to thrive in humidity and moisture. If you have no clue where to organize your plants, you can create a simple shelf, giving room to not only your potted plants but your hanging plants as well. Some examples of plants you can implement are Aloe Veras, Bromeliads, Bamboo or Snake Plant as potted plants. Hanging plants you can also use Spider Plants, Ivy, or Begonia. Create your own sanctuary with other artistic elements such as wall art, patterned wallpaper, or sculptures.

Use Monochrome Color Hues With a Twist

In contemporary design, we often see the use of one color scheme used throughout the bathroom space. But there’s a way you can go around the monochrome look without compromising the style you are trying to achieve.  You can use multiple patterns to use within your existing color theme. We recommend you to stick with color palettes that are soft, pastels and can be matched universally with other bathroom elements you want to include.  For this color scheme to work, you would need an opposite color to contrast and allow your more prominent features to pop out especially if you have metallic items. And this contrast color can either be black and white. White will not only open your bathroom space but gives your bathroom a nice clean look.

Finding the right look for a bathroom remodel or new project can be really exciting. The most important thing is matching your decor to your personality, stick to colors you that make you feel happy, make sure your bathroom is also functional. Tune in for me decor tips on #HowIModani
